General Grants

The Hoffberger Foundation funds nonprofits serving greater Baltimore whose programs focus on serving the city’s residents within the strategic priority areas of children’s mental health and trauma, and workforce development and economic mobility.

The Foundation has been focusing on these two areas since late 2020 after undertaking a strategic planning process. As part of our intentional focus on using a racial equity lens and employing trust-based philanthropy best practices, the Foundation provides general operating support so community partners may best determine how to use the funds provided.

To learn more about our grantmaking, please review our Areas of Giving. To learn when the next funding opportunity is available, please check the Foundation’s Grants Process.

The Hoffberger Family Philanthropies encompasses two charitable organizations:

A 501(c)(3) charitable, grantmaking foundation whose board members are lineal descendants of Sarah and Charles Hoffberger.

The Hoffberger Family Fund, Inc.
A supporting foundation of The Associated administered by the Center for Funds and Foundations. Its board consists of members appointed by The Associated as well as members of the Hoffberger family.
